Buttermilk cornbread

Buttermilk Cornbread

Dry mixture 
·       1 C cornmeal
·       2/3 C all-purpose flour
·       1/4 C sugar
·       2.5 T baking powder
·       1 tsp kosher salt

Wet mixture 
·       1.3 C buttermilk 
·       1 egg 
·       4 T of salted butter - softened 

Other ingredients
·       4 oz shredded cheddar cheese
·       Additional add in: 4 T jalapeno

Directions 
1.     Preheat oven to 400
2.    Mix each of the dry ingredients 
3.    Mix each of the wet ingredients 
4.     Whisky the wet into the dry 
5.    Melt butter (or bacon grease) in a cast iron skillet, then add the cornbread mixture 

6.    Cook for 20 minutes and test with a toothpick
